Statement from the Athletic Director
“This year there was great excitement on the campus, especially in the area of student activity involvement. After a very exciting and rewarding athletic season last year, 2012-2013 has been a year full of successes. Every one of Allen Academy’s Varsity teams either qualified for the playoffs or was invited to participate in the State Championships.
The Boys and Girls Basketball teams both won TCAL 2A state titles, the Volleyball team finished as runner-up and the Ram Football team concluded a 10-2 season by losing in the State Quarterfinals.
Participation is at the heart of Allen athletics and in the last year 80% of our Middle Schoolers were involved in activities, while 75% of our Upper School student body participatsd on at least one of our 10 athletic teams. Allen athletics provides a unique opportunity for the student to have their athletic participation work in concert with the Mission of the School and thus contribute to the social, physical and moral development of all its participants. The athletic program will strive to develop a student’s physical skills and abilities, and will focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, positive self-esteem, leadership, cooperation, citizenship, loyalty, character and personal responsibility.”

Athletic Mission Statement
The mission of Allen Academy Athletics is to utilize athletics to anchor the School’s values of intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical and moral development so that students become responsible, contributing citizens and fulfilled individuals. Our mission aims to nurture in our students the motivation, self confidence and mutual trust to discover their individual and community strengths of mind, body and spirit.
Interscholastic sports are one of a number of programs and experiences available at the Middle and Upper School level to assist students in their personal growth and development. Among other attributes, athletics can assist in promoting the importance of hard work, loyalty and dedication to tasks, the importance of team work and team unity, the importance of establishing goals and working toward their achievement; and the development of principles relating to sportsmanship and fair play. All athletes do not perform at the same level, but maximum effort, commitment and a humble and winning attitude are requisite expectations for all team members.
