Media Madness

Does this Compute? Lower School students began working with their computers this week after completing their internet safety unit. Students logged onto their computers using their new logins and passwords. Younger students learned on to “boot” and shut down their computers properly as well as learning the logging in process. In addition, 3rd-5th graders also discussed the importance of creating secure passwords and began refreshing their keyboarding skills by reviewing the home row keys.

US, Computer Application Students are finishing up applying their Microsoft Word skills in creating a newsletter. Be sure to stop by the lab starting next week to view these very creative newsletters.

Media Madness

Another busy week in Lower School Media! Kinder students began learning about the “home row keys” and some are already catching on to the skill. First graders extended their study of Fire Safety by using Microsoft Paint to create “evacuation plans” using a floor plan template. Second and Third grade are expanding their word processing skills by creating acrostic poems using Word Art. Finally the Fourth and Fifth graders are taking on a leadership role of reinforcing our Core Values with the Lower School students. They will be using Microsoft Publisher to create posters that illustrate each core value with its’ appropriate tagline. Students are working collaboratively to plan, take digital pictures, and design each core value poster.  These posters will be displayed around the school to help remind our students about each core value. We plan on continuing this theme throughout the year by incorporating other forms of media; such as videos and podcasts.
