Have You Filled a Bucket Today?

As another way to incorporate the Core Values into our classroom, I read a book to the class called "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" It explains that everyone has an invisible bucket that holds their good feelings. When someone does or says something nice, it fills your bucket. When someone hurts you, they are called a bucket dipper and that takes away from both buckets. We are letting our friends know how much they mean to us by writing a "Bucket Filler" explaining what behavior made us smile, feel proud of them or just anything that would make someone smile. They complete a slip of paper, fold it in half and drop it into our bucket. Each Friday, Miss Sanders will gather the slips, staple each person's together and pass them out. We guarantee that our class will start the weekend with a smile. Have YOU filled someone's bucket today?
