Ms. Wendi Kamman will be teaching 3rd grade at Allen Academy for the 2011-12 school year.  This is her 10th year to teach, and she has taught 2nd-5th grade, all subjects.  Wendi graduated from Texas A&M University in 2002 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a double minor in Early Childhood and Reading. She received her Master degree from Sam Houston State University in 2010 with a degree in Reading Instruction and is also certified as a Reading Specialist.  Her classroom is focused around brain-based instruction with an emphasis on technology and hands on learning.  Ms. Kamman says, “I believe that if my students come to believe that learning is a lifelong adventure, and believe in facing each new day with minds that are open to knowledge and hearts that are open to love, they will believe in themselves and each other. As they come to acknowledge these beliefs, they also begin to believe in the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore, to imagine and to create in order to learn more. In the end, my goal is to teach the children that success means doing their personal best, being their best, and feeling proud of themselves.”
