A Case for Philanthropy
Providing a unique educational experience with superior faculty and an environment that fosters learning requires voluntary philanthropic support from those who believe in Allen Academy's mission. Currently, tuition, fees, and other operating revenue cover only 80% of the cost of educating a student, leaving a per-student deficit of $2,000.
Philanthropic support of the school helps ensure that our students receive the academic excellence they deserve. Our supporters' generosity helps us to attract and retain the brightest faculty who prepare our students for lives of responsibility in a rapidly changing world. Additionally, contributions allow the school to maintain a quality of programming inclusive of its many needs. Philanthropic support is a critical aspect of providing for our students.
Regardless of the size of gift, every gift counts. Maximizing participation is not only a testament to our donors' belief in what we are doing, it is a statement to foundations, corporations, and prospective students that Allen Academy comprises a community actively involved in the advancement of its mission.

Why is participation so important?
High levels of participation show that the school’s community of supporters believes in what the school represents and in the opportunities it offers their children. Also as previously mentioned, philanthropic organizations and foundations that provide grant opportunities to schools frequently look at the level of participation and commitment of the parents and supporters of the school as a factor in awarding gifts and grants to that organization.
Will there be other fund-raising efforts at Allen Academy?
Yes, since independent schools do not receive government funding, it is necessary to raise funds for capital improvement projects as well as for scholarships and special events. Typically, the following additional fund-raising opportunities take place:
- Pull for Allen — A fun-filled fund-raiser that includes the opportunity to try your aim at shooting or bid on a variety of great auction items and win prizes.
- Parent’s Association — The parent organization does a variety of fund-raising activities which primarily support special projects, scholarships, field trips, and instruction-related activities.
- RAMBackers Booster Club — The Allen Academy Booster Club is an organization open to all members of the Allen community and is intended to support all teams, athletes, coaches, and TAPPS-related activities through the sale of concessions, merchandise, and other fund-raising activities. Click here for more information on the RAMBackers Booster Club.
- Major Gifts — This category, Major gifts, encompasses other opportunities for giving to Allen Academy. Major gifts can include both cash and in-kind services donations. Some major gifts are given to support a single aspect or program area; however, other significant gifts are given to be used at the school’s discretion.
- Naming Opportunities — Naming a facility or structure after an individual, a family or even a business or corporation is another way to generate additional funding. If you are interested in naming opportunities contact the Development Office at the school or call Dave Bliss at (979)776-0731 extension 25.
- Endowments — Allen Academy would be honored to receive endowments from families, alumni, or individuals as part of an estate settlement or donation from a will. For detailed information regarding endowments that can continue to give, contact the Development Office at the school or call Dave Bliss at (979)776-0731 extension 25.
