Volunteering
At Allen Academy, we realize how valuable a resource volunteers can be for our school. We welcome parents, grandparents, friends of Allen Academy, senior citizens, or students from Texas A&M University and Blinn College. Although new volunteer opportunities become available frequently, below is a list of the most common avenues for involvement as a volunteer:
- Parent's Association — Allen’s Parent’s Association strives to form a partnership and foster a spirit of community between parents, guardians, and the school administration to support Allen’s mission and promote the welfare and education of Allen students. “At Allen I can truly be a part of my child’s learning experience.” Click here for more information about the events hosted by the association and how to get involved.
- Pull for Allen volunteers — The Pull for Allen Fundraiser consists of a two day event including: wild game dinner, wine pairing, and featured chef, auction, and on the second day: sporting clay shoot and family style picnic loaded with outdoor activities and education exhibits. In past years, proceeds from the Pull for Allen have benefitted the technology program at Allen as well as other projects. If you would like to help in the planning and execution of this event, please contact the Development Office.
- Allen Fund volunteers — Independent schools depend upon donations such as the Allen Fund to balance the difference between the revenue generated by tuitions and the expenses required to operate the school. Giving to the Allen Fund helps the school balance its operating budget while allowing the donor to benefit from tax savings. We seek 100% participation from families, faculty and staff. If you would like to volunteer your time to the Allen Fund effort, please contact the Development Office.
- Classroom instructional volunteers — Volunteers serve as tutors and classroom instructional aides. The specific roles vary according to the grade level and individual teacher.
- Committee members — There are several standing committees at Allen Academy that accept volunteers as members. Some of those committees include: marketing, development (fund raising), uniform policy review.
- RAMBackers — The Allen Academy Booster Club is an organization open to all members of the Allen Academy community: parents, grandparents, families, alumni, faculty members, and friends who wish to support the athletic program. Affectionately known as RAMbackers, the club promotes, provides for, and supports all the teams, clubs, students, and coaches within the entire Allen program. Click here for more information on the RAMBackers Booster Club.
- Substitute teacher — To volunteer as a substitute teacher, you need to complete an application for substitute teaching.
- Coach or club sponsor — See the Athletics section and the Clubs section of the web site for more information regarding athletic teams and student clubs.
To become involved as a volunteer, please contact the school administrative offices at 979 776-0731.
