Students, Faculty Raise Funds for Wildfire Relief

After an Allen teacher spotted a Facebook effort to support those affected by recent Texas wildfires, Allen Middle and Upper School students and teachers decided they would do their share to help out. They began raising money around the school, and so far, the students and teachers have contributed more than $1,000 to the fund. Karli Anderson's Middle School advisory raised $280 of the total. 7th grader Sallie Jane Manterola, one of Ms. Anderson's advisees, enlisted the help of church members to collect $220 of that amount.
"This spontaneous altruism is natural to Allen students," said Head of School John Rouse. "They care for people around them and they jump at the opportunity to make an impact. I am proud of their giving spirit and their willingness to help others."
