Applying to Allen Academy
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019-2020 school year.
Contact the Admissions Office to schedule a tour of the school campus. This is the best way to find out about what Allen Academy has to offer, see classes in action, and meet some of our teachers.
Each month, we offer one or two Welcome Wednesday sessions beginning at 9:00am. These tours allow visitors the opportunity to meet our Student Ambassadors, our faculty, and some parents, while classes are taking place.
We hold four Open House events over the course of the year. These events are led by our Head of School, Dr. Matthew J. Rush, and allow parents the opportunity to meet our Division Heads, and learn more about the student experience through lesson demonstrations led by select faculty members.
Individual tours may be scheduled as needed.
2) Shadow Day
Arrange for your child to “shadow” for the day with us. We will pair your child up with one of current students who will guide them between classes and be a friend to them while they experience a typical day at Allen Academy.
3) Submit Application
A completed application will consist of:
1) Online application plus deposit ($100 for PK, $200 for KG-12th grades)
2) Teacher Recommendations
3) School records
4) Admissions assessment
Once all components of the application have been collected, the student file is reviewed and notifications will be sent out during the first week of March. After the first round of notifications, applications will continue to be accepted as space is available.
After an application has been submitted, the Admissions Office will contact you to arrange your child’s assessment. All students entering Allen from Pre-K through 1st grade will take an in-house assessment. Students entering grade 2 and above will take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). There is a $100 fee for this test which is paid upon registration, directly to the agency. Assessments are necessary to make sure that incoming students will be able to navigate our program.
All applications received by the February 15, 2019 deadline will be reviewed promptly. Parents will be contacted with a decision during the first week of March. All applications received after the Feb. 15, 2019, deadline will be reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Decision types: Accepted, Wait Pool, Non-Acceptance.
Accepted: These applicants are qualified to attend Allen Academy and are offered enrollment positions. The school’s offer must be accepted or declined by the date specified on the Enrollment Contract. A non-refundable tuition deposit of $50 per student must also be submitted at that time.
Wait Pool: These applicants are admissible, but all available enrollment positions have been filled. Instead of being offered an enrollment position, a wait pool position is offered. Wait pools are NOT prioritized waiting lists; when and if an opening arises in a particular grade, the Director of Admission and the appropriate Division Head will determine which applicant in the wait pool can best fill that enrollment position. The wait pool does not carry over from year to year. Placement in the wait pool one year does not influence admission decisions for any following year in which the student reapplies to Allen Academy. We reserve the right to give priority consideration to qualified sibling and alumni child applicants.
Non-Acceptance: These candidates are not offered enrollment at Allen Academy.
It is the policy of Allen Academy to administer its educational programs, including admission and financial aid, without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin, disability, and age.
