By Heather StClair

Sam D., '21, recently built an outdoor classroom space on the Allen Academy campus as part of his Eagle Scout project. Working alongside current Allen students, parents, and alumni, Sam built a beautiful circular classroom space just off of the entrance to Baker Field. We are certain that this space will get a lot of use this year, and in years to come!

Allen Academy welcomes new Interim Head of School

July 01, 2020
By Heather StClair

Allen Academy recently welcomed Mike Notaro as Interim Head of School. Mr. Notaro joins the Allen family from St. Luke's Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama where, for the past 7 years, he has served as Head of School. He has demonstrated a commitment to leading schools in combination with all the members of a school's community: students, parents, teachers, alumni, benefactors, and the board of trustees. From not only his time at St. Luke's in Mobile, but also at Brookwood School in Thomasville, Georgia (SAIS and NAIS member school) which he led for 7 years prior to St. Luke's, he has an impressive track record of championing new ideas, partnerships, and collaborations to extend new experiential and academic opportunities to students and help reach school goals. His extensive academic, management, administrative, and fiscal experience coupled with his track record of success give us great confidence that he is the right person to continue moving Allen Academy forward.

Congratulations to Allen Academy’s newest inductees into the National Honor Society!

Dedicated to recognizing and encouraging outstanding high school students, selection for this nationwide organization is based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Congratulations are certainly in order for the four Juniors and six Seniors who were inducted into the Allen Academy Chapter this morning. Special thanks to Mrs. Caskey, NHS Sponsor, and Dr. Matt Rush, for their efforts to coordinate such a lovely ceremony commemorating this achievement.

Winter Fun in PK-1

January 30, 2020
By Heather StClair

It may be a little warm in Bryan, Texas for real snow and ice, but Mrs. Westbrook’s class enjoyed playing in "snow" during their Winter Unit! Tactile exploration of everyday ingredients such as shaving cream, salt, etc. can be a great tool for language development, as well as fine motor development - not to mention, it's just a lot of fun!

April 20, 2019
By Heather StClair

Some of our Upper School students recently had the opportunity to attend the ISAS Fine Arts Festival held in Austin, TX. This was an incredible experience that allowed them to not only share their own performances and pieces, but to attend workshops and master classes and learn from talented faculty and peers from other ISAS schools. As an annual event, our faculty and students are already looking forward to next year's ISAS Fine Arts Festival!

Allen Academy inducts first class into Cum Laude Society

March 28, 2019
By Heather StClair

Congratulations to these five seniors elected to membership in the inaugural class of the Allen Academy Chapter of the Cum Laude Society: Leo T., Lara Z., Michaela R., Kendall K., and Sam D.

This is an incredibly prestigious honor. Established in 1906 as the secondary school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, the country's oldest collegiate honor society, The Cum Laude Society honors academic excellence and superior scholarship among its nearly 400 member schools. Membership in this academic organization is limited to 20 percent of the Senior Class. Allen Academy is proud to induct five members of the Class of 2019 into this prestigious society.

Allen Academy students must meet each of the following criteria to be considered for election: maintain at least an A average, carry a full college preparatory course load that includes the most rigorous courses offered, have excellent SAT/ACT scores, and receive enough votes from electing members of the Allen Academy Chapter of The Cum Laude Society. However, fulfillment of these requirements does not guarantee membership. The Society emphasizes more than academic grades and standardized test scores. Instead, it recognizes individuals who—in all areas of their lives—love to learn, share their knowledge with others, and demonstrate scholarship, honor, integrity, leadership, involvement, and outstanding character. The Society also hopes that all of its members will continue their cooperative and selfless pursuit of knowledge while serving as lifelong examples of the Cum Laude Society motto: Aréte (Excellence), Diké (Justice), Timé (Honor).

Congratulations and well done, Rams!

By Heather StClair

Congratulations to the newest National Honor Society inductees from Allen Academy!

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
